The Art of Designing a Scene

  • Shetlandsgade 3, 1st floor 2300 Copenhagen Denmark (map)

Every memorable scene tells a story.

It has a beginning that captures attention. A middle that builds anticipation, tension and uncertainty. A climax that transforms something. And an ending that allows the experience to settle into the body.

Great dominance is rarely improvised and it is not planned.

It is composed - and leaves space for what unfolds in the moment.

Whether a scene lasts five minutes or five hours, every choice shapes another person's experience. Pace. Timing. Ritual. Silence. Surprise. Challenge. Pleasure. Pain. Reward. Frustration. Relief. Aftercare. The art lies not in using every tool, but in knowing why each moment belongs.

For one afternoon, we explore the craft of designing scenes that leave a lasting imprint.

Rather than focusing on techniques or toys, we investigate the architecture of power exchange. How do we create anticipation before the first command is given? How do we establish trust while maintaining uncertainty? When do we slow down? When do we intensify? How do we build emotional and erotic tension? And how do we bring a scene to a close in a way that leaves both partners feeling transformed rather than exhausted?

This workshop is for you interested in the dominating side of power.

Together we develop a practical framework for designing scenes with intention and leaving space for deviant creativity. We explore how to define the purpose of a scene, build a meaningful progression, choose rituals and interventions that support that purpose, and read the submissive well enough to adjust without losing direction.

Throughout the afternoon, each participant will design one or more scenes for their own use. Working with feedback from the group and the facilitators, you will refine your ideas into scenes that reflect your own desires, values and relationship, ready to be brought to life after the workshop.

We’ll give you a framework to work with:

  • Intention: What experience do you want to create?

  • Narrative: The emotional journey.

  • Rhythm: Pace, silence, contrast, surprise and rest.

  • Tools: Choosing the implements, rituals, protocols and interventions that best serve the scene.

  • Attention: Not getting stuck inside your composition, but leaving lots of space for presence, creativity and reading your submissive without losing direction.

  • Transformation Ending with integration rather than simply stopping.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This workshop is especially for those interested in the dominating side of power.

This evening - and the KNEEL series - is for everyone who is curious about exploring power exchange as more than a dynamic. As a practice. As serious play. As deeply erotic. As a way of cultivating presence, intimacy, and conscious connection. And as a way of exploring who we are as humans and as social beings longing to belong.

THE KNEEL SERIES

This event is part of the KNEEL series by Anso Vela and Jac Fabian: Six immersive workshops, rituals, dinners, and social experiences about power. They are for couples and run from September to December 2026. You can join one, some or all events.

CAN I JOIN AS A BEGINNER?

Yes you can. But be aware that the KNEEL series is not a step by step intro to how to play with power series. We explore together and in many different ways. We ask questions and find the answers within ourselves through exercises, play and reflections. You may learn a whole lot about what power exchange is about at its core for you, as we focus a lot on the why and how we bring ourselves more fully into the moments of power.

DO I NEED A PARTNER?

No! This workshop is for those interested in the dominating side of power.

Wear something that you feel comfortable in. We’ll be on the floor, but will not do any interactive exercises.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

The KNEEL series is facilitated by Anso Vela and Jac Fabian who have many years of experience with power exchange both as deep, erotic sessions and daily, meaningful practice.

Anso Vela’s (she/her) current artistic work develops spaces where power, intimacy and desire can be explored with awareness and intention. She creates immersive formats that function as laboratories for surrender, authority, trust and responsibility, engaging BDSM as both artistic language and relational inquiry.

Alongside this, her curatorial practice operates across larger cultural frameworks, shaping international collaborations and platforms that examine how art and culture can influence perception, contribute to structural change, and foster connectedness in a fragmented world.

Jac Fabian (he/him) is an experienced rope bondage and kink practitioner who’s been teaching and facilitating BDSM for more than a decade. His focus is the meeting point of perversion, power dynamics, aesthetics, group facilitation and co-creation processes, artistic experimentation, and consciousness. He is the founder and director of House of Play in Copenhagen. Jac has performed in Tokyo, at The Danish Royal Theatre and many other kink and art venues.
