Can You Love Without Falling?
A Grow Up Workshop on Love, Merging and Staying with Yourself
The third workshop in the four-part Building Safer Attachment series. You don’t need to have attended parts 1 or 2 to join.
Who do you become when you have a crush or fall deeply in love?
Falling in love can feel intoxicating. We feel alive, open, excited, and connected. At the same time, it can quickly take over. We begin imagining a future, reading meaning into every interaction, or feeling that this person is the answer to something we have been longing for.
What would it be like to stay conscious inside that experience?
To enjoy the energy of infatuation without immediately deciding what it means. To let it bring aliveness and spice into our lives and relationships without allowing it to run the whole show.
We will explore the deeper needs that can become activated when we fall in love. The longing to be chosen, seen, held, or finally made safe.
We practise uncoupling projections by noticing the dreams, stories, and emotions that appear without collapsing into them. Instead of clinging to the romantic bubble or running away from it, we can gently burst it and return to the actual person in front of us.
The invitation is to enjoy falling in love while remaining rooted in ourselves. Then we have more choice around where our love, attention, and energy flow.
We will also play!
The theory behind the workshop
When we fall in love, something real happens in the nervous system.
Infatuation often includes both connection and activation. There is openness, bonding, and aliveness, together with excitement, intensity, and sometimes anxiety. This combination can feel amazing, while uncertainty can quickly awaken older survival responses.
Falling in love can also bring our earliest experiences of closeness into the room. We may long to merge, become afraid of losing the person, feel that we are too much, or pull away before the relationship has really begun.
Hormones add to the intensity. Dopamine increases focus and craving, oxytocin supports bonding, and adrenaline brings excitement. When we do not know the other person very well yet, the mind fills in the empty spaces. This is where projections and romantic dreams become strong.
About the series
Building Safer Attachment
A Grow Up series of four workshops with Li Tadaa at House of Play
Each workshop has its own theme and can be joined as a single event. You can also take part in several of them as a deeper journey into building more safety within yourself and in your relationships with others. If you have attended similar workshops with Li before, you can trust that new layers will come up this time.
As we move into intimacy, most of us meet emotional challenges that are connected to both the person in front of us and our own history.
From a Grow Up perspective, we learn to recognise when the past has entered the present, so we can respond with more awareness instead of automatically repeating an old pattern.
Safer attachment is something we gradually build within ourselves. It gives us more capacity to come close, fall in love, open up sexually, meet uncertainty, and still remain connected to who we are.
One of the biggest challenges in intimacy is merging. Closeness can feel beautiful, but we may begin to lose our needs, boundaries, or sense of self inside the connection. Others protect themselves by keeping a distance and never fully allowing the meeting to happen.
This series is an invitation to stand more steadily within ourselves and move towards greater romantic and sexual sovereignty. Even though each workshop can be attended separately, the four workshops follow a movement:
Are You Good Enough?
Our relationship to our own value.
Can You Get Rejected?
Daring to reach out, ask, and risk hearing no.
Can You Love Without Falling?
Opening to love without losing ourselves inside it.
Shadows of Kink
Exploring sexuality, power, desire, and how they can become mixed with unresolved childhood needs.
How we do it
Throughout the series, we will explore attachment through the body and look at how old patterns live in the nervous system and show up in relationships.
We will work with somatic practices, constellations, reflection, relational exercises, and emotional awareness, woven together with dance, play, and community building in a mix Li likes to call “trauma fun.”
CAN I JOIN AS A BEGINNER?
Yes you can, however take into account that this work may awaken fears, emotions and/or trauma in the body, so a basic capacity to self regulate and tend to your needs is necessary.
DO I NEED A PARTNER?
No - You may come with one (or more) but you can expect a lot of group exercises.
DRESSCODE
Comfy for dance and movement.
WHAT TO BRING
We suggest bringing a water bottle with a lid and a notebook+pen
