REIMAGINING BONDAGE – Luke Ropes & Kate (Prague)

  • Shetlandsgade 3, 1st floor 2300 Copenhagen Denmark (map)

We’re proud to introduce Luke and Kate from Prague as facilitators for this workshop that is part of a whole weekend with this innovative couple. We have met Luke at several European rope events and find his approach to rope play refreshingly explorative, open-minded and deeply inspiring. It’s about igniting your imagination, creating stories with ropes, and going on a journey of emotions together.

REIMAGINING BONDAGE is a three-day weekend of rope and bondage workshops. Join us for the day that sparks your curiosity, or come to all three for the full experience.

THE PROGRAM

Friday
19.00 – 22.00: Tenugui – A cloth for every occasion

Saturday
11.00 – 18.30: Never Stop Exploring

Sunday
11.00 – 18.30: Storytelling with Ropes

Tenugui – A cloth for every occasion

A tenugui and a single rope might not look like much—but together, they’re a cheeky little power combo. In this workshop, discover just how fun and versatile a simple piece of cloth can be. Blindfold? Gag? Leash and collar? Quick tie-down? Absolutely. Tenuguis are great for body manipulation and offer objectifying possibilities—especially when layered over the face or mouth. We’ll play with the contrasts between rope and cloth, and learn how to tie (and untie) both efficiently, safely and have some fun while doing that.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This is for people who want another handy tool for their rope play and wish to deepen self-awareness, connect with others, and enjoy returning to the basics of rope play with playfulness.

CAN I JOIN AS A BEGINNER?

Yes! This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners looking for new inspiration.

DO I NEED A PARTNER?

No, you do not need to bring a partner for this workshop. We encourage you to switch partners and roles during the workshop and will help facilitate that in a way that feels safer and focuses on the boundaries of all participants.
If you wish to tie only with your partner you may do so.

Never Stop Exploring

Expand your horizons in this workshop, where tying becomes a journey of emotions, connection, and flow. We focus equally on riggers and tiee (person being tied). We’ll explore rope handling, conscious movement, tying with clear intention and then combine all together. You’ll learn to use breath as a tool, and infuse your tying with deeper meaning. Through intention, we’ll transform each tie into an expression of desire and connection. Join us to discover new ways to communicate, move, and play with ropes.

Bodywork and movement with ropes

We’ll work on moving efficiently on the floor and standing, focusing on conscious touch to communicate as effectively as with words.

Breathing

Breath can be a useful tool to every session. Let's learn how to be conscious about it and use it to your advantage. There will also be tips and exercises for tiees: how to deal with certain situations in ropes.

Tying with clear intentions

Take control, be in control. And then, let go. We will exercise how to set intention and meaning to our tying. Do you want to be gentle, rough, touchy, distant, calm or furious? We will practice many emotions and how to get into the mood.

Playing with imagination – edging

You know that feeling when you eagerly anticipate something, and the waiting is almost unbearable but also very exciting? We’ll focus on that initial thrilling (teasing) part. The resolution will feel so close but still out of reach.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This workshop is for anyone who wants to explore the rope basics and more. It can give you more fluidity and intention in your sessions. Clear communication doesn’t always have to come from words.

CAN I JOIN AS A BEGINNER?

To participate in the workshop, riggers should be able to tie at least single and double column tie without looking.

DO I NEED A PARTNER?

Yes, you do need a partner. We recommend that the partners know each other at least a bit so you know each other's consent and boundaries. It will not be possible to switch roles during the workshop. .

DRESSCODE

Wear something comfortable that you can move around freely in.

WHAT TO BRING

You’ll need at least 5 ropes, each approximately 8 meters long x 5-6mm thickness, made from jute or hemp. Tenugui or cloths for blindfolds and gags are optional.

Storytelling with Ropes

Whether you naturally experience stories while tying or not, this workshop will guide you through rope play that evokes deep narratives within us. Each participant will create and live their own stories—whether in the role of the tied person or the rigger. We will dedicate equal attention to both sides of the experience.

I see storytelling as tying with intention. That intention might be a pre-planned story I want to experience, or it could be pure curiosity and experimentation. Stories are also a great source of inspiration when we’re unsure what to tie. We will explore a few different stories, each accompanied by exercises to help us fully immerse in the experience. Every story will introduce a new tie and a unique approach—sometimes staying on the floor with a single rope, other times exploring suspension.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This workshop is for people who already have some experience with rope bondage and want to deepen their experience during the tying with stories we tell through our ropes.

CAN I JOIN AS A BEGINNER?

To participate in this workshop, riggers should be able to tie a stable TK or similar for suspensions, and have a good suspension rope handling. The tiees should have experience with suspensions.

DO I NEED A PARTNER?

This is a workshop for couples where one person ties and the other is being tied.

DRESSCODE

Wear something you can move in and feel comfortable in. Present yourself as you want to be seen - maybe as on a date?

WHAT TO BRING

You will need 8 ropes, each approximately 8 meters long x 5-6mm thickness, made from jute. At least 3 of the ropes sustainable as a suspension line. Tenugui or cloths for blindfolds and gags are recommended.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

Luke (he/him) started his journey with rope as a rigger in 2020. From 2022 he became Joan von Brook's model and co-teacher on workshops they've been teaching since. In 2023, he joined the permanent teaching team at Subspace Studio in Prague. He thrives on experimenting with various styles and techniques in tying, drawing inspiration from the Naka-ryu style, Nicolas Arnoÿs, and Joan von Brook. Besides regular teaching of weekend workshops in Subspace Studio he was also a presenter at Prague Shibari Festival and Shibari Camp.

"For me shibari is about exploration. I love to find new ways, new paths. Shibari is often put in boxes: art, erotics, body-work, BDSM and many more. My aim is to blend these elements and shape them into something exciting. Exploration gradually becomes a craft of tying that can be refined and transformed. It's a never-ending cycle. I explore ropes because I want to create something. The tie itself isn't the end goal, rather, it acts as a pathway for expressing ourselves.

In my workshops, I love to share this approach with other participants. While each of us is responsible for our own exploration, we can grow from shared knowledge."

Kate (she/her) started doing ropes in 2020. Shortly after that, ropes quickly became a big part of her life. She is looking for deep connection and intimacy in different styles of tying. Ropes give her a feeling of freedom and opportunities to explore herself and her partner. She loves to play with a wide range of emotions which then create various scenarios and dynamics during the sessions. She is drawn to ties with a lot of trust and vulnerability where she can show her devotion. At workshops she loves to focus on models' perspective and gives great tips on how to work with body, breathing and mind during a session.
