Presence - The currency of power exchange

  • Shetlandsgade 3, 1st floor 2300 Copenhagen Denmark (map)

Power begins with attention.

Before there is rope, impact, commands or surrender, there is a single moment where one person truly notices another.

Presence is the currency of power exchange.

The quality of our presence and attention determines the quality of our dominance, our submission, our intimacy, and ultimately our capacity to create meaningful experiences together. Without presence, power becomes performance or actions without depth. With presence, even the smallest gesture can become profoundly erotic.

For one afternoon and evening, we slow everything down and pay attention.

Together we explore presence as an embodied practice. How does it feel to be fully seen? What changes when someone gives you their complete awareness? What happens when every movement, every breath and every touch is made with intention? This is where power begins.

DAY

Through embodied exercises, ritual, observation, play and reflection, we investigate presence as something that is cultivated rather than achieved.

Submissives will explore the practice of becoming exquisitely available. Remaining present while waiting. While serving. While holding discomfort. While receiving correction. While being exposed or punished. Discovering how stillness, awareness and intentionality can become powerful offerings in themselves.

Dominants will explore presence as leadership. How do we truly observe another person? How do we direct attention rather than simply behaviour? How do we recognise subtle changes in breathing, posture, emotion and energy? And how does deeper presence allow us to lead with greater confidence, creativity, deviance and care?

For many, the role of the dominant becomes the role of the one who takes action. Lots of action, all the time. What if dominance is not about doing, but about authority? What if deep presence in itself can be the most dominant?

Throughout the day, couples will repeatedly return to one simple practice: noticing.

Noticing ourselves.

Noticing our partner.

Noticing what happens between us.

As attention deepens, so does trust. Communication becomes quieter. Small gestures begin to carry extraordinary weight. Power no longer depends on intensity, but on the quality of awareness we bring into each moment.

NIGHT

As evening falls, the workshop transforms into a night of scenes of power. A place to discover that presence is not something we bring into power exchange. It is power exchange.Rather than chasing bigger scenes or stronger sensations, couples are invited to discover how much can unfold through sustained attention. A prolonged gaze. A patient wait. A carefully given and subtle instruction. A silence or a look that says more than words.

Throughout the evening, Anso and Jac will occasionally offer collective scores and invitations that draw the room together before opening the space again for each couple's own exploration.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This is a couples event.

This evening - and the KNEEL series - is for everyone who is curious about exploring power exchange as more than a dynamic. As a practice. As serious play. As deeply erotic. As a way of cultivating presence, intimacy, and conscious connection. And as a way of exploring who we are as humans and as social beings longing to belong.

THE KNEEL SERIES

This event is part of the KNEEL series by Anso Vela and Jac Fabian: Six immersive workshops, rituals, dinners, and social experiences about power. They are for couples and run from September to December 2026. You can join one, some or all events.

CAN I JOIN AS A BEGINNER?

Yes you can. But be aware that the KNEEL series is not a step by step intro to how to play with power series. We explore together and in many different ways. We ask questions and find the answers within ourselves through exercises, play and reflections. You may learn a whole lot about what power exchange is about at its core for you, as we focus a lot on the why and how we bring ourselves more fully into the moments of power.

DO I NEED A PARTNER?

Yes you do! You need to sign up as a couple and at each KNEEL event one of you needs to be in the submissive and one in the dominant role. You cannot come without a partner. You do not need to be romantic partners or sexual partners, but you need to be open and excited about being erotic with each other in a power dynamic.

At the opening of the evening we facilitate that you agree on your boundaries of the day with each other and to what extend you may be open to engage with others. This is up to you.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

The KNEEL series is facilitated by Anso Vela and Jac Fabian who have many years of experience with power exchange both as deep, erotic sessions and daily, meaningful practice.

Anso Vela’s (she/her) current artistic work develops spaces where power, intimacy and desire can be explored with awareness and intention. She creates immersive formats that function as laboratories for surrender, authority, trust and responsibility, engaging BDSM as both artistic language and relational inquiry.

Alongside this, her curatorial practice operates across larger cultural frameworks, shaping international collaborations and platforms that examine how art and culture can influence perception, contribute to structural change, and foster connectedness in a fragmented world.

Jac Fabian (he/him) is an experienced rope bondage and kink practitioner who’s been teaching and facilitating BDSM for more than a decade. His focus is the meeting point of perversion, power dynamics, aesthetics, group facilitation and co-creation processes, artistic experimentation, and consciousness. He is the founder and director of House of Play in Copenhagen. Jac has performed in Tokyo, at The Danish Royal Theatre and many other kink and art venues.
