In this workshop series our experienced Japanese Rope Bondage teachers Anna and Jac Fabian teach some of their favourite ties for both floorwork and suspensions. Each workshop is a combination of learning a new tie and exploring how to use it to create magic in different ways. The ties are carefully selected to open up for many different kinds of playful connection, expressions, body movement, intensity, polarity and beauty.
For the person being tied, this is a good opportunity to get to know your body better, how to take care of yourself in ropes, and to explore your preferences and expressions in being tied. For the person tying, this is an opportunity to tie with more playfulness, creativity, confidence, safety and skill. And for the two of you a great opportunity for co-creation, deeper connection and better communication.
All the workshops are aimed at rope lovers who have some prior experience with suspensions, see more about the level below. You can join one, more or all of the workshops as you please, and you need to sign up as a couple.
PLAYFUL FLOORWORK WITH ANNA
Every first Tuesday of the month, Anna teaches intermediate level ties focused on playing with a partner on the floor. Some workshops include partial suspensions, but always with some part of the body on the floor, in order to keep the focus on the playfulness and dynamics of the pair, rather than the more technical aspects that full suspensions require.
The ties explore ways to incorporate different dimensions and focus to floorwork, finding many new ways to play in rope:
FEBRUARY 3 - Predicaments #1: the illusion of choice. Learn ties that allow the tiee to choose between two different types of uncomfortable or painful positions.

MARCH 3 - Tying with bamboo #1. Using smaller bamboos to mold the body into different shapes and positions by tying many points of the body to the rigid shape of a bamboo.

DYNAMIC SUSPENSIONS WITH JAC FABIAN
Every third Tuesday of the month, Jac Fabian teaches a dynamic suspension or a transition - a movement between two suspensions - in ways that invite playfulness, polarity and connection between the two of you. If you don't have so much experience yet with suspensions, there will be a more basic approach, and for the more advanced rope nerds, Jac will show more intricate and creative ways of playing with this suspension or transition. We will also focus on aesthetics, body movement and safety.
FEBRUARY 17 - Hip Harness is a stable and supportive tie to explore many different positions in suspension, playing with different kinds of pressure and expressions, a great starting point for interesting transitions.

MARCH 17 - Naka Torsion is a legendary tie for exploring how to open up and twist the body in beautiful ways, and for the more advanced also a possibility to add more ropes to gradually mold the body in aesthetic ways.

APRIL 21 - Half Basket is a simple tie that opens up a lot of different possibilities for working together; finding positions that invite play, connection and beauty, opening up and moving the body into very different positions.

MAY 19 - Kata Ashi is another classic tie that opens up the body for play and beautiful exposure, with many possibilities for movement, adding more ropes and - for the more experienced - playing with gorgeous transitions.

TEACHERS
Anna (she/her) first fell in love with Japanese rope bondage over a decade ago, and hasn’t stopped tying since. She’s been actively teaching ropes for years, and finds the greatest passion in teaching beginner and intermediate levels. Her focus is on making ropes safe, playful, connective, queer, and body adaptative. Anna also facilitates rope jams and play nights at House of Play.
Jac Fabian (he/him) has many years of experience in Japanese Rope Bondage and for the past ten years, he’s been teaching all levels from beginners to very advanced bondage classes, with a focus on presence, deep polarity and connection, dominance, surrender and aesthetics. He has learned from many of the best teachers in Japan and Europe and has been invited to perform in Tokyo, at The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen and many other places. Jac Fabian also teaches various other aspects of kink and is the founder of House of Play.
Tia (she/her) has been practicing ropes for 8 years, mostly through being tied. She loves working with challenging suspensions and exploring the deep connection and power exchange rope can bring. Tia has also done several rope performances and is into many other forms of kink besides ropes.
