Join the Communications Team!

House of Play is growing and we’re looking for a new volunteer team member to help shape and share the many stories, events, and updates from House of Play.

We are especially looking for people who want to work with social media – primarily Instagram and Facebook – and who are excited about communicating around a topic that can be tricky to talk about on SoMe. If you enjoy creating posts, shaping messages, and helping a community feel informed, inspired, and connected - in a field where thoughtful, careful, and creative communication really matters - we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be part of a dedicated communications team working with social media, newsletters, website, strategy, and storytelling. At the same time, you’ll join the broader House of Play crew: 50 passionate and skilled people who co-create our events, care for our space, run accountability processes, and contribute across twelve teams.

What you'll be doing

As a member of the communications team, your main focus will likely be social media, especially Instagram and Facebook. Depending on your skills and interests, you may contribute to some of the following tasks:

• Writing and scheduling posts for Instagram and Facebook

• Creating graphics for social media, web, and posters

• Helping update our website in Squarespace

• Writing and sending newsletters

• Contributing to our overall communication strategy

• Potentially helping with other communication tasks as needed

Who we hope you are

• You have experience with some of the tasks above – especially social media and content creation.

• You probably have a relevant education or are studying in a related field (communications, design, media, etc.).

• You're an enthusiastic team player who brings warmth, creativity, and reliability to the work and is excited to co-create House of Play. 

Time & energy

We expect you to contribute 3–6 hours a week, depending on your availability and the tasks at hand.

We meet online every two weeks, and sometimes in person to collaborate and build team spirit.
