Japanese Rope Bondage

PLAYFUL FLOORWORK

In this course, we go from the basics of rope into the world of floorplay, learning techniques to add a new level of connection between you and your partner through sensations, tension, speed, positions, as well as adding new tools, both tangible (such as small bamboos) and the intangible (such as music or emotion). Learn how the speed of the rope sliding across the skin can affect the mood, how a single point of tension can be the difference between a rope cuddle and suffering, and how you can use a suspension point as a third “arm” to make even the most simple ties more impactful.

The playful floorwork course is focused on teaching ties and techniques to enhance playing with each other on the floor. Some ties will include partial suspensions, but always with some part of the body on the floor, in order to keep the focus on the play and dynamics of the pair, rather than the more technical aspects for full suspensions.

We will explore different aspects of floorwork, including:

  • Rope dynamics - using motion, body positioning, and polarity

  • Using sensations for pleasure and pain

  • Predicament play

  • Incorporating additional tools to enhance the rope experience

TEACHERS

Anna (she/her) first fell in love with Japanese rope bondage over a decade ago, and hasn’t stopped tying since. She’s been actively teaching ropes for years, and finds the greatest passion in teaching beginner and intermediate levels.

Her focus is on making ropes safe, playful, connective, queer, and body adaptative. Anna also facilitates rope jams and play nights at House of Play.

Diana (she/her) has been a part of the kink scene for many years. She began her rope journey in 2020 and enjoys both tying and even more being tied.

She particularly enjoys emotional, sensual bondage and also playing with more demanding ties. Diana also values creating a safe space while exploring possibilities with empathy. She has a passion for sharing knowledge and is always curious to learn.
