HOT WAX AND ROPE - Explore Hot Wax Play with Rope Bondage

  • Shetlandsgade 3, 1st floor 2300 Copenhagen Denmark (map)

Get hot! Explore, and learn how to combine warm wax play with ropes.

House of Play is proud to present this cooperation with Henrik and Nikki, who bring many years of experience with classical Japanese rope play in combination with other forms of kink, and who have been teaching and performing both nationally and internationally for years.

In this workshop they introduce you to playing with hot wax candles in combination with ropes. You will learn how to take care of safety, and understand how different kinds of wax candles melt at different temperatures. Most of all, you get a chance to explore the sensation of hot wax on your skin and how you can play with this as part of a rope session.

The workshop will be a mix of demonstrations and practical exercises with wax and ropes. You can also use hot wax without ropes, and you’re welcome to join even if you’re not into ropes.

We will cover key theoretical and safety topics, practice and practicals. There will be support and guidance from the facilitators throughout, along with space for reflection and for sharing of your experiences.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

All levels of rope are welcome.

Henrik and Nikki will demonstrate certain rope patterns/positions that work well with wax and describe alternatives for different bodies, abilities and intentions. The demos will show use of ropes on different levels, so there’s something for beginners and more experienced as well.

If you’re not into ropes, you can just try out and play with the hot wax without ropes.

CAN I JOIN AS A BEGINNER?

Absolutely!

Whether you have combined your ropes with warm wax play before, or not, there will be something for everyone. If you want to combine the wax with ropes, the ability to tie a safe and stable double-column tie will be an advantage.

DO I NEED A PARTNER?

You can come alone, in pairs or as a group. There will be theoretical parts to the workshops as well as practical exercises which will be hands-on.

For the practical parts you will be invited to explore with partner(s) though it is equally welcomed to explore the sensations on yourself. We ensure there is space for all approaches. House of Play encourages openness to different people and genders in exercises, and you may also choose to explore exclusively with your partner(s) if that feels right for you.

DRESSCODE

Please wear something comfortable that you can move around freely in.

Please consider wearing clothes that can get dirty from the wax (and equally, you may get warm wax on your ropes).

WHAT TO BRING

Bring your own wax candles if you have them (NOT a regular candle, as the melting point is dangerously high). We also have wax candles you can try and ones you can buy.

A waterproof covering, mat, blanket, towel or similar to protect the room.

As the ties will have options and adaptations for all levels you can bring anything from no ropes, one rope, through to 6-8 plus 1-2 carabiners depending on your intention and experience level.

Also bring a blindfold/cloth; a lighter, and a butter knife or similar to peel off the wax.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

With over 17 years of dedicated learning and experience between them, Henrik (he/him) and Nikki (she/her) have been rope and kink partners for over 6 years. They believe rope can be for everybody and every body, that there is always a solution to enable a successful tie, and that we are all always learning.

Through their rope journey of deep connection and adventure, they have explored a wide variety of kink practices, always maintaining a focus on their love of rope at the core. They find it a privilege to be able to share learning with others, and witness the joy as people inspire and develop on their own journeys.

They have developed their own non-dogmatic approach to tying, built on years of classical shibari and kinbaku education as a foundation, and a deep trust of each other. They have a great passion for teaching ropes, and have been teaching and performing both nationally and internationally for several years.
